Orginally meant for
nudists, but what the hay.
Saturday was too busy to make it to Lupin during the day, but we did head down in the evening for the dance.
While it technically had the theme "Seasonal Sensations," we were there for the DJs, Broadway Joe and Anita. They play a mix of pop and rock danceable music from the 60s to current, with a heavy dose of MoTown. Right up our alley in terms of musical preference.
After lots of work during the day I didn't expect to have a lot of energy for dancing. I was wrong. I was up there shaking my naked booty for most of the evening. We often finished a song with "Wanna break? Yeah." music starts "But we gotta dance to this one."
Backtracking a little. We arrived before the music started, so we took a soak in the hottub, where we had a nice conversation with some instructors from the Human Awareness Institute seminar that was being held at Lupin last weekend. I learned some good stuff to take back to the
sextips community for which I'm one of the moderators.
Having the seminar at Lupin though, meant there was a higher the usual number of folks at the dance who were clothed. None seemed bothered by all the naked folks (I supposed they would have bailed right away, if they were.) but some were trying really hard not to stare and some looked eager to join, but not quite ready to disrobe.
However as the evening progressed, we noticed that the clothing was slowly disappearing. The women lost their tops before the guys took off their shirts. With some transitioning through dancing while wearing regular underwear.
I hope they enjoyed their Nudist experience and will return again on their own.
I also hope none of them were given the wrong ideas by the 2-3 women wearing tacky lingerie. I've nothing against dressing up or down at a park, resort, club, beach, etc. I sometimes wear a parero (sp?) wrap myself, so I understand the need to sometimes coverup* or the want to decorate yourself**, but please have a little taste in your choice of decoration. What is it with the ugly teddies, bustier (sp?), thigh high fishnets, etc?
{{{oops, sorry for the mini rant}}}
* Sometimes I get self-conscious or get turned on dancing and need to hide myself.
** My Lady loves to swirl her skirts when dancing. She grabbed at her non-existent skirt several times on Sat.

Date: 2002-06-17 01:44 pm (UTC)We didn't come into this world with a wrapper, so why the heck are we expected to have one on everyday. Or at least give us a place and the opportunity to be without it. Damn I hate clothes!

Depending on where in TN you are, there may be places across the state line too.
I used Nudist Park USA just now, but check Naturist Society and AANR for other sites as well.
Not all clubs have dances, some are meant to be quiet restful
retirement homesplaces. Others don't advertise their entertainment publically, cause that "might give the wrong impression."no subject

Date: 2002-06-17 02:49 pm (UTC)When they came down later, sans bikinis, to swim, no one looked at them twice. (Ok, Ok, they were still nice looking, so we still looked, but no one stared.)
But to you point, some folks just can't get past their conditioning. Even when surounded with naked folks, making them the odd one out.

Date: 2002-06-17 04:02 pm (UTC)However, the longer we enjoy our own pool nude and the more we go to Lupin, the less and less willing (and happy) I am to wear anything while swimming.
It's the classic my suit is wet and clammy coming back from the hotel and sandy if coming from a regular beach. Yuch!! Why bother.

Date: 2002-06-17 04:03 pm (UTC)I often sleep in something, partially because I kick covers around and get chilly, and partially because I get scared that the Hayward Fault will chase me out of my house naked on a cold evening.

Date: 2002-06-17 04:55 pm (UTC)I got the kid to take off her glasses and tell me what she saw. Well it was all a sea of pink/tan/brown except for the spots of color that were bathing suits. I know I made my point when the next time she showed up she was topless and had a beige bikini bottom on.

Date: 2002-06-17 05:03 pm (UTC)And to drift off topic a little. I agree with your solution (reminder, don't ask, don't tell attitude to parents), but how ow did you deal with the knowing she was violating parental rules a 2nd time?
Re:
Date: 2002-06-17 05:59 pm (UTC)Well it was more of a dont put me in to a state were your parents will talk to me about this because I will not lie to them.
"but how ow did you deal with the knowing she was violating parental rules a 2nd time?"
Kinda hard one will answer in two parts
what happend was they found out anyway and I was straight with them. The young lady said well now you know and I am going to do this. She was a level headed and responsable kid and a few days later she told them she was going there. In the end they agreed to disagree and if there was any cause for complaint she would be tared and feathered.
In theory: well its a tough thing whos trust do you violate. I have for the most part had an Aunty Ashee law wich is if you act like a grown up I will treat you as one. I try to let my friends and there kids know about my dont ask dont tell mentaily, with the caviat that if in my openion there is any danger all bets are off. (I wouldnt rat a kid out for drinking I would for driving after it) Or if there is something the Parents speficely told me about, but I make sure the kid knows whats up then.
Kids must break rules to grow up, and as there friends we need to relise that and respect it but guidance with out judgment is a hard line to walk.

Date: 2002-06-17 06:08 pm (UTC)We try for that same relationship with our younger friends. I had a active parental role with some of them, but as they grew older I conciously tried to convert into a big brother/uncle type of relationship.
Offering support and guidence if needed, only laughing ocassionally at their antics and never telling unless there is danger involved. Though I did rat out one kid for smoking.

Date: 2002-06-17 05:26 pm (UTC)This is our 5th or 6th dance there.
There have been times when it seems everybody is wearing something, and sometimes when most folks are nude.
It even varies through the night.
Not to take pot shots, but I think the most clothes are left on when a group of "lifestylers" are visiting. Regulars get self concious about "being looked at" and the stylers are dressing up (or down depending on taste).

Re:
Date: 2002-06-20 12:06 pm (UTC)When doing sports you are focused externally and you direct your body to do what it needs to do. ie: Move over there, extend arm to hit ball, etc. Any you don't really concern yourself with what other parts of your body are doing. This is why sports bras for women and jocks for men were invented.
While dancing you become more aware of your body from the inside. You are tracking and controling where all the various bits are. Your arms, legs, head, tummy, "dangly bits", etc.
Also, dancing is not such a vigious activity, with sudden starts and stops, most motion is smooth and fluid. No sudden jars unless you want them.
2) Controling their bits. Whether it is for physical reasons or social.
Despite common the misconception, Nudists as a group are not exhibitionst. They are actually fairly anti-exhibitionist. Many clubs have rules that boil down to "don't attract attention" which address things like Public Displays of Affection, tattoos, piercings, clothing, etc.
So while dancing is fun, some percive their dangly bits flopping around to exhibitionistic, so they cover up or restrain their bits.
Despite what I said in #1, some folks are bothered by their bits flopping around, so they dress to control their bits.
