Tonight is my first night with a CPAP machine.

best wishes!

I'm sure you'll let us know how it went for you? (my hubby snores something serious too and nothing really works very well or often).

I would think the CPAP would keep you awake..

The first couple of nights were all very disgusting sinus clean-out for me, but it was like having a new life by night #3.

I hope it works well for you.

If you have issues, there are a HUGE variety of possibilities for masks and headgear. A friend of mine with a beard and moustache prefers the nasal pillows. Based on his recommendation, that's all I've ever used.

I'm currently bearded and moustached, but because at night I'm a mouth breather, only a full face mask has ever been useful for me. YMMV, so if it doesn't help or you can't keep a good seal, try a different mask.

I started feeling good effects the very first morning. For the first month, I felt demonically supercharged.

I find this chin strap worked wonders for me:

This is the mask I use:

(I am also full-mustache-and-bearded, but I have very few problems with the seal.)

The nasal pillows also don't work well if (like me) you have a deviated septum. (Bone inside the nose that grew funny)

Crapola. :( Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

Good luck, and I hope it keeps neither of you awake!

(For the past 25 years now R. intermittently snores like a chainsaw (due generally to allergies) but apparently does not appear to need one at this time...)

Actually this is a good thing and long delayed.

After a chat with friend whose symtoms nearly matched mine and his vast improvement with a CPAP machine, I finally talked to my doctor.

One thing I do love about Kasier, they will send you for a consult at your request if you c/l/a/i/m/ show any symptoms that justify the refferal.

Good luck with it!

The newer machines have ramping featuers that make it much easier to get used to them, but I barely bother with that now I'm used to it.
Besides trying different masks etc., you can also have the pressure levels adjusted for you and get a different humidifier.
Up here, Kaiser tends to send you to get a machine with cold humidifier. If yo find your sinuses are getting dried out & bloody nosies, ask for a humidifier that warms the water instead. That wets the air much more, I found it extremely helpful myself.

A stuffed plush alien (a la the movie with Sigourney Weaver) would look really cool on top of the mask. ;-)

I hope it helps you. It has helped me. I had an the advantage of periodically "sucking rubber" for many years so I had no problem getting used to having something covering my face. Good Luck!

GOOD for you -- now how to I convince my spouse that he needs one.

GOOD LUCK! If you ever need someone to talk to about the next few months (quite a process I here) my boy knows all about it. The love of the machine, the hate of the machine, the "I'm fine now I don't need it anymore state, the ah, "I'll be doing this for the rest of my life" and so forth...

Hey, here's hoping that it helps you sleep so much better that it transforms your life.

Good luck! I know that my quality of life has improved *immeasurably* since I started sleeping with one.

They may take a couple of nights to get used to, but they did me a world of good! I just wish I could've gotten my ex-wife to use one!

Welcome to the club

I had one for about 15 years now - just hit the 1 year mark on my new improved version. It seems to work for me - hope it does for you too.
