They have a list of deleted accounts older then 30 days which they recently purged and made avail for new accounts or use for renames.

Was it you that mentioned before that they weren't going to release renamed accounts? I went to look at my old one and it says it's deleted and purged, but when I try to register it it says it's taken. Confusing.

I don't recall seeing anything about what they would do with the old version of renamed accounts.
