As seen in lj_userdoc, a new feature of LJ allows you to filter for Personal, Communities/Shared & Syndicated Journals


?show=journaltype on friends/friendsfriends pages
There's a new option, described in this Zilla bug, that you can add to your Friends or friendsfriends page URL to get all personal journals or all communities.

e.g. http://www.livejournal.com/exampleusername/friends?show=P

shows personal journals

and http://www.livejournal.com/exampleusername/friends?show=C

shows communities. Including shared journals and the News journal.

and http://www.livejournal.com/exampleusername/friends?show=Y

shows syndicated accounts.

You can also combine them:

?show=PC shows personal, community, shared, news journals
?show=PY shows personal and syndicated
?show=CY shows syndicated, community, shared, news journals
?show=PCY shows everything. mainly useless.

OK, I thought I posted a comment here to you, but it appears I somehow had gotten logged out instead (shouldn't have happened! I had LJ up in my browser window!) Anyway, i guess that negates my second question, but my first still stands.

How the heck does one see "friendsfriends" in the first place anyway?

Displays the posts for all the friends of all your friends.

In my case, it shows only about the last 5-10 minutes worth of posts.

Hey, what I want is the ability to sort-read my OWN entries by "private", "friends and custom friends" and "public". Is this too much to ask?

A bit late... Long ago I set up filters, and
bookmarked them, so I always have one
window open for my friends only, and another
for just my communities.....
