Yes it cost $150 a night.
Yes, a soda cost $4 in the bar.

But DAMN, we loved staying in Fairmont San Jose.

The rooms were large.
The bathrooms were huge.
The beds comfortable.
Water pressure in the shower.
Maids and bellmen who showed up within 10 minutes of calling for a service.
Front desk staff that gave professional, courteous & prompt service even when I was dressed in TyeDye.

All in all, there was a different feeling at the Fairmont then the one I've felt at any Hilton or Hyatt (for twice the price).

We're looking forward to Torcon which is being held in the Fairmont Royal York

I second, third and fourth this. I can honestly say that, in 7 years of going to cons, I've never stayed in a better hotel. $150/night was steep, but it was worth every single penny of it. :)

If you're going to be staying in a Fairmont again, and if you haven't already, I'd suggest signing up for their President's Club. I did, for the hell of it, before WorldCon, and ended up with a two-category upgrade for the room and saving a mint with the free local calls. Best thing about it? It's free to sign up and there's no membership charge. :)

We did as we were checking out.

A Fairmont is the main party hotel for Torcon

I've found that the Boston Fairmont is about 3 blocks away from the Noreastcon CC/Party hotel. Walking balanced against the great hotel, must decide, must decide.... (in 2 years...)

Indeed. This was quite possibly the best con hotel I've ever stayed at (and with rates at, say, Lunacon in NY running at about 120 a night for a smaller and less-well-appointed room, $150 a night isn't so horrid.

my only disappointment

I loved the appointments and the both restaurants we went to were gorgeous and yummy if a little steeper than we were used to, we only had two major service issues which all things considered were only minorly annoying. all in all a great hotel

here's hoping we can do Torcon!

As you know, I'm a big flirt and cuddler, so you need to be a little more specific about which lady I was with, before I can confirm that it was indeed [livejournal.com profile] chriso you saw with me.
