My capitalistic tendencies balance out my social justice tendancies quite well.

However, my distrust of my fellow human beings running the government and corporatons, drives me far into the Libertarian/ Anarchist end of the scale. Unfortuantly the Anarchists scare the hell out of me (I do not want to live in a village sized social unit) and Libertarians usually strike me as self-centered a**holes.

I'd go with "something else," that being "people are more than happy to agree in principle with the ideas behind a libertarian POV, but are only speaking of their freedoms and not anyone else's if said other does something that squicks them." Most people want freedom for their way of life. It's when they have to offer it to other people that gets them.

As for the attitude expressed by many anarchists and libertarians, I find that all philosophies attract loudmouth loonies. I will never forget the far-left liberal I knew who defended the concept of white guilt as a valid approach to me. Not an easy sell to someone who's aware of the history of Irish America (allowing for the sad fact of the Irish treatment of blacks in a stunning display of pecking order establishment syndrome).

Just a few thoughts from a self-identified and test-verified left-wing libertarian.
