Building a family

When you gather folks around you that you love, who are not lovers, at some point you have to stop calling them "just" friends and the best word for that group is family.

Agreed.

I tend to be a stickler for accuracy and call them "virtual family," especially since I don't want to lower them to the level of biological family like my brother (ugh).

I'm partial to the term "chosen family" myself...there's nothing virtual about the love between me and mine.
