If by "young" you mean Simm, I'm almost positive they did. I know they had Jacobi.

No the child who was looking into the void.

From the voice over, I think it was supposed to be the 8-year-old master who "some run away, some are inspired, a few go mad" as the camera zoomed in on the kid's eyes reflecting the void.
