Keep spreading the word....

The recent unpleasantness on LJ has spawned a new community, [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts, intended to show Six Apart (LJ's owners) exactly how pervasive fandom is, how many fans (in the fannish sense of the word) there are here. It's not intended to be a posting community; just... if you read fanfic, or write it, or support the concept of it (or, as [livejournal.com profile] valkyrwench puts it, if you're just a fan of the First Amendment), then go there and join.

I joined earlier today with my main journal, but I just went and joined with all my fandom-related journals (if it's part of the 13 million journals, it should be part of the [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts tally). This whole debacle has pissed me off royally, especially in light of their recent lack of action over the [livejournal.com profile] d1rtyf1lthy goatse meme. Grrrr.

Ok, what exactly happened? Anyone care to fill in the poor girl who's been at work since 5am? All I'm gathering is that there was a mass deletion of accounts.

Ok, never mind. I started following a chain of comments and finally found a news post about it. OMGWTFBBQ?!?!?!?!? LJ execs have gone insane. Apparently they didn't realize that they are not legally responsible for what other people write. Joined and now going to post this in my own lj so that my friends can hear about it.
