I was asked in another forum, what my photo work flow is.

This was my quick response. *edit to add my DOS script at the bottom of the post.

Work flow is fairly basic.

Dump pics from memory card to laptop.

Run a script that reads the exif headers and renames files to date-time-camera.jpg and plugs in a copyright comment.

Copy files to work directory.

Mark all "original" files as READ ONLY.
Copy files to portable external hard drive.
Copy files to 2 external hard drives at home.
(Yes I have 4 copies for some period of time)

Switch to work directory.

Double check I'm in the work directory.

Run ThumbsPlus to generate catalog and do image rotation.

Flip through individual images and ruthlessly delete all flawed photos. Unless something really grabs me about the photo.

Go through photos again and sort them into sub-folders. By day, by portion of event, subject matter, whatever is best for this set.

Go through each photo again, looking closely to see any hidden flaws, unflattering poses, etc.

Now is when I start the actual post processing of cropping, color and brightness correction, etc.

How long does all that take?

(read: when do we get to see pictures?)

If I have the energy, I can do most of it in an hour or two.

The culling takes 2-3 hours.

The post processing can take up to a week.

I'm going to to do quick cull on my Baycon photos, then do a dump to flikr.

Later tonight or tomorrow, I'll get them up.

What OS do those scripts run on?

Can you post them someplace?
