Neat new feature of Semagic...
Configure Semagic to use LJ's Scrapbook or Flickr as a image storage spot...
Ctrl-M to add a image, but browse [...] to a local image file.
On posting, Semagic automatically uploads the photo to the service and changes the link to point to the service.
