Just returned from the follow-up appointment with [livejournal.com profile] chriso's Surgeon.

Pathology reports the additional tissue removed during the 2nd operation was cancer free.

WHOOT!!!!!!

However, because the first biopsy came back pre cancerous, [livejournal.com profile] chriso will be on the "Visit Oncology every 6 months for 5 years" and has to get a mammogram every year (she was on the 2 year cycle).

She comes back to the Surgeon in 6 months for follow-up to check on the long term healing as well.

"Increased preventative monitoring" seems like a small price to pay, compared to the alternative scenarios.

P.S.: Hugs to you both, from us both.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful!!!!

A couple of years ago, Mrs. Trogula and I had a breast cancer scare that was, fortunately, not. I can't begin to describe the fear and anxiety I went through in that trial.

Though I've never met [livejournal.com profile] chrisochriso, know that she has her own candle on my altar.

Woohooo!!! Great news!!

Those continuing doctor visits are a pain though, you have to get it all back into your head every few months. It's been 3 years since my pre-cancerous find and I still go to the gynecologist every 3 months to hear "no, it's still not gone"
