Star Wars Battle Theme...

Random Life Story...

Long ago, I lived in a townhouse. Which meant that I shared a bedroom wall with my neighbors.

Unfortunately my neighbors would fight then make up. Both loudly. Sometimes many times a night. This irritated me to no end, especially as they would often do so late at night.

In retaliation, I finally started turning my stereo speakers to the wall. Playing the battle theme from the Star Wars albums, during the fights. Ravel's Bolero during the make-up sessions.

They never noticed my music choices, until folks at the weekly building BBQ asked me why I played these 2 pieces so often. I explained I played them when I could hear certain things happening. She turned bright red, He just harumped.

Next week at the BBQ their kids were talking about moving into their new bedroom. I never heard them fighting or making up ever again.

When we were living in our first co-opt building, we would hear "Oh Ken, oh Ken, oh Ken..." from the wall for a while before it stops. Fortunately, our neighbor's name IS Ken :-)

We never said anything though.

Bahahaha!
I knew a guy who would have music wars with the East Indians next door, late at night. They played their traditional music. He, being a MacRae, retaliated with Bagpipes, as played by the Scottish Rouges.

alright. I know you claimed this to be random, but nothing like that is. what inspired you to post this story now?

A friend on IM mentioned her sister and friend were talking very loudly next door, during the day.

I recomended the music against the wall trick to shut them up/drive them out.

The above story was the proof it does work.

I want to say The Secret of My Success, but I wouldn't swear to it.

*applauds the music choice*

When I lived in military base housing, our attached neighbor was prone to turning the bass on his music up so it shook the concrete slab the house was built on. After a few visits from the base MPs informing him that courtesy hours are 24/7, I figured out that he often slept during the day. (He was not a servicemember and his wife worked days.) When the bass was at its worst, I'd turn on radios tuned to the local classical music station in both bedrooms and we'd spend a few hours in the far end of the house or out. He figured out how to adjust the bass on his stereo to reasonable levels in less than two weeks.
