My reasons are two-fold: The first is about the same - so if the cats barf on the bed, it's on the blankets (which are more easily replaced) and not on the sheets. Second, my cats love to sleep under the blankets, so if the blankets aren't pulled up, they can't snuggle!
Lucky for me, they never barf while snuggled up underneath.
(Note that I don't usually make the bed in the morning anymore)
*the bed surface is much more useable for other activities with the bedlothes smooth--I make the bed when I'm using it to fold clothes, for instance, or pack for a trip.
*if you have a murphy or folding bed of some sort and need the floor space for other things.
*because I like the feel of the smooth sheets better than the rumpled ones (especially on hot summer nights in MI--my great aunt used to IRON her cotton sheets for that slick, cool feeling!).
*and yeah, to keep cat hair out of the bed, if one has cats.
I have always wondered that myself. For it is just the thought of nice neat sheets and crawling under them. Now on the weekends we usually do not make the bed. Wonder why during the week I need it made...
