I'm on the chef cluster.

Where are you?

The server configuration is complete. For paid users LJ should have been seeing snappy performance over the past few weeks.

I'm in the Chef Cluster, too.

Now...what does this all mean?

Join [livejournal.com profile] lj_dev to find out all the the boring details, but basically...

LJ used to have a single large database server, with lots of slave DBs and web servers servicing it. Paid users accessed fast web servers, free users the old slow webservers, both ended up accessing a overloaded DB server.

They have now gone to a clustering system. 3 (IIRC, chef, cartman & ???) clusters currently, with the ability to go to several more as needed. The only shared data between the clusters is userhome data.

You login to the web servers, they look you up on the most convient DB cluster, find your home cluster, then make the connection to your home DB cluster.
