Looking at a pair of headlines today lead me to a interesting conclusion.

"President wants SF to stop violating the law."

"Bush supports a Constitutional Amendment to ban same sex marriage."

Hmmm, if same sex marriage is against the law, why do we need a constitutional amendment?

Maybe, President Bush (or at least his advisers) know that when all is said and done in the courts, same sex restrictions will be declared unconstitutional.

But I have my doubts, that while a constitutional ban will get lots of lip service, when push comes to shove, it won't go anywhere.
