Yup, that's definitely the same Cowardly Lion costume I wore in 1986, the ripped-out feet give it away (I started out having feet on them, but they tore off during the run of the show so I wore my bear-foot slippers for the final couple of nights). Different head piece, mine was not as nice. I liked my makeup job better, tho.

Looks very good. I spent the weekend finishing up the Scarecrow costume for Patrick. I don't know if you know this, but we open with Wizard this weekend, and my son Patrick (you've probably seen him at Loscon) is playing Scarecrow. (Just to let you know, this isn't a kids show, Patrick's actually grown up now and in college, scary) I'm playing the Munchkin Mayor. My costume is...interesting. Anyway, Patrick didn't like what they rented, and being raised in fandom, and many years of hall costuming most of which he created himself with my help, he researched the movie checking the costume frame by frame, then we went out thrift storing and found pants and shirt to modify. After a trip to Joanns, we've got a pretty exact match to the movie. The head piece and hat that they provided was fine, but the shirt and pants were all wrong. Patrick really wanted to copy the movie exactly, and that's also what the director wants. Tinman, Lion, and Dorothy were rented from a different place and all look good, and like the movie. I'm also stage managing, so we've got a long week ahead getting this thing up.

I hope your show went well. Is it still running? We open this weekend and close the weekend before Loscon.

Oh, I hope you don't mind, but I sent the link to some of our cast so they can see what other productions costumes, etc. look like. I thought it would be interesting. I'll see if I can post some pictures for you when I have some.
